DTV Visa

Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa - Your Gateway to Long-Term Training

Planning to train Muay Thai in Thailand for more than just a few weeks? The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) makes it possible to stay and train long-term, legally and hassle-free.

We happily guide you through the whole process!

Launched in July 2024, the DTV is a 5-year multiple-entry visa that allows holders to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per entry. Before the initial stay expires, you can extend it for an additional 180 days at the Immigration Office, giving you up to nearly one year of continuous stay before an overseas trip is required.

Who Is Eligible?

The DTV covers two main categories. The first is "Workcation" — for remote workers, freelancers, and digital nomads who earn their income from employers or clients outside of Thailand. The second is "Thai Soft Power" — and this is the route most relevant to our students. The DTV Muay Thai visa is designed for individuals who want to train in Thailand long-term at a legitimate, licensed gym. Importantly, this visa is not limited to professional fighters — beginners are fully eligible and widely accepted.

Key Requirements

To apply, you will generally need a passport valid for at least 6 months from your travel date, a recent passport photo, proof of at least 400/500,000 THB in your bank account (proof that you can finance yourself), and an enrollment confirmation from a certified Muay Thai gym. Based on 2025–2026 approval trends, it is strongly recommended to book a minimum of 6 months of Muay Thai training, as this aligns with the initial 180-day stay and demonstrates clear intent to train seriously.

How To Apply

You can submit your application through Thailand's E-Visa website or visit a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate. Requirements and processing times can vary by embassy, so it's worth confirming the specific process with your local Thai embassy before applying.

Important Notes

Remote work for foreign employers is allowed under the DTV, but you are strictly prohibited from working for a Thai company or providing services to Thai customers. Your legal spouse and unmarried children under 20 can also apply as dependants.
